Exeter Gym Club Cheerleaders
become National Champions


After winning the ‘Spirit Award’ Cup in 2009 the Exeter Starlites Cheerleading Squad won both the Junior Cheerleading and the Junior Pom Dance Competitions at the UKCA 2010 National Community Championships in Manchester on 15th May 2010.

A great result gained from hard work and commitment by the girls and coaches.

Jay Thompson wins Gold


Well done to Jay Thompson who has had a very successful year so far, achieving 1st place in the Rheintal Cup in Switzerland in April and becoming the National U14 Elite Grades Champion in May.

He has also maintained his place in the National 2016 Top Training Squad. Keep up the Good Work, Jay!

Commonwealth Team Selection Trials

Congratulations to Steve Jehu at the Commonwealth Trials on Sat 29th & Sun 30th May scoring 82.45 in the first round and 84.10 in the second round to set himself firmly in contention for a team place selection at the final trials on 28th August.
Good luck!!

Exeter Gym Club Recreational Competition 2010

Exeter Boys represent the S.W.

Three Exeter Gym Club boys competed in the South West Teams at the Regional Grade Finals in Birmingham on 15/16th May 2010.

Edward Scott won a Team Gold and achieved individual 4th place, Cameron Bates won a Team Silver and achieved individual 6th place and Keelan Freeman won Team Bronze and achieved 46th place in his first National Club Grade competition.

Cheer Workshop - August 2010

Our August Cheer Workshop is taking place on Friday 20th August 2010 (12.30pm - 3.30pm). Any Club member and their friends may attend this session. Simply download and complete the application form and return to the Club asap.

Adult Gym

Adult Gym with Brendan Wilde started really well on Tuesday 6th October 2009 with 16 young and old adults having a great time with some reliving their past performances and others experiencing for the first time the exhilarations of their first cartwheels!

Men's Coach for Exeter

English Gymnastics and the South West Executive have agreed to Exeter GC Match Funding the SW Men's Club & Coach post which will operate from Exeter GC and be responsible for the Elite Squad Boys and future Elite Boys. He will also help with coach education. This is a most exciting development in the history of the club.

Ian Scott

Sadly, Mr Scott (Ian) passed away peacefully on Thursday 17th June 2010 at 9.45pm in the Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital after being ill with Bowel Cancer. Many club members will remember Mr Scott who coached in the Exeter Gymnastics Club for over twenty years.

Our sympathies go out to Sue and his family.

Director wins British Gymnastics Honorary Award

Congratulations to Mike Euridge who was awarded the British Gymnastics Master Coach Award for 2008 at the bi-ennial event on Sunday 13th June 2010 to mark his success in gymnastics. Well done, Mike!

Exeter Gym Club May Fayre 2010

The May Fayre was a great success again this year and raised a grand total of £1166.00.
Thank you to everyone who supported and helped at the event.

Staff Training

33 coaches at Exeter Gym Club recently attended a Child Protection and Awareness course and 6 coaches have completed a First Aid course.

Well done to Clare Solari who passed her Pre-School Level 1 course and GMPD module and Eddie Sokolovas who passed his Level 1.

Well done to Beverley Spragg and Jennie Packham who passed their UKCA Level 4 Intermediate Stunting.
